because oceans
are our collective resource
THE OCEAN’S CRISIS IS OURS
Oceans cover over 70% of the planet’s surface and do a ton of work for us: regulating the Earth’s climate, producing over half the oxygen we breathe, and sustaining millions of lives through food, recreation, and wellbeing. Yet they bear the brunt of humanity’s exploitation too: pollution, overfishing, and climate change are eroding marine ecosystems at alarming rates—accelerating coral bleaching, biodiversity loss, and threatening coastal communities through intensifying storms, rising temperatures, and devastating weather events. As oceans degrade, frontline communities and future generations face rising seas and economic instability. We are at a tipping point, and the decisions we make now will define humanity’s relationship with the planet and our oceans going forward.
OCEANS HOLD THE KEY
Despite these threats, oceans remain a beacon of hope and opportunity, presenting solutions for regeneration in their depths. Healthy marine ecosystems can sequester carbon, restore biodiversity, and drive equitable economic growth. By reimagining tourism, innovating circular products, and investing in community-led solutions, we can create models of collective ownership that promote sustainable symbiosis between people and the planet.
At Next Wave Collective, we are betting on the ocean’s potential by exploring solutions that intertwine environmental restoration and economic empowerment.
OUR WORK
The next wave of business, materials, and regenerative models is inevitable—it has to be. The future of our planet, communities, and industries depend on shifting toward climate resilience, human health, and new economic systems.
NEXT WAVE COLLECTIVE is an innovation studio building what comes next at the intersections of ocean futures, ethical commerce, and regenerative design.
We strive to be as boundary-less as the ocean: we explore blue economy solutions, circular materials, and ethical tourism models, turning research into tools and enterprises that enable a future where economy and ecology thrive together.
CATCHING OUR WAVE METAPHORS? It’s on purpose! We’re ocean lovers who dwell in the tropics, so our work has a special focus on (+ for) islands, coastal ecosystems, and the special role their cultures and ecologies play in the world.

NEXT WAVE LABS
VENTURE STUDIO FOR OCEAN-FIRST BUSINESS MODELS
Next Wave Labs is where we test, incubate, and launch new concepts in regenerative business and ethical consumerism. We focus on ocean innovation, ethical travel, and sustainable fashion—building sustainable products and operations that align economic rewards with ecological stewardship. Here’s what’s cooking in the Lab right now:
Next Wave Swimgear → Circular adventure-ready waterwear for women in action.
Blue Wave Living Lab → A community-owned marine tourism experiment.
Regenerative Travel Index → Fueling ethical tourism through transparent climate and social impact metrics.
SurfDirect → A marketplace for independent surf instructors.

NEXT WAVE SWIMGEAR
CIRCULAR, INCLUSIVE, ADVENTURE-READY WATERWEAR
85% of global swimwear is made from virgin plastic—seeping into our bodies and beloved seascapes in ways we don’t yet fully understand. We’re on a quest to put that paradigm to rest, forever. Our first line is crafted from recycled ocean-bound plastics, but we’re on a mission to go beyond plastic entirely—pioneering biomaterial innovations that redefine what swimwear can be.
In the meantime we’re focusing on what’s missing: femme-centered fits, protective designs, and adaptive sizing built for movement. And we’re rethinking ownership models too—exploring circularity programs that transform how we relate to our gear.
Circular by Design → Our Blue Loop program will offer subscription-based options to swap out worn gear for recycling and renewal, reducing waste while keeping you equipped for your next adventure.
Inclusive Protection → We go beyond SPF with full-coverage, high-mobility designs that protect your skin, hair, and body—crafted from sustainable materials and designed for athletic action in and around the water, while keeping harmful sunscreen chemicals out of it.
Proactive Conservation → Every collection channels profits into marine conservation, investing in women and coastal communities through ethical design and regenerative production.
